Google Glasses

Two days ago, Google demonstrated its “amazing” Google Glasses, which had a mike, GPS, a camera, and a screen all in one. It can also transfer data and stream videos live if you have wireless or Bluetooth connection. They had a group of skydivers skydive off an airship in the sky using the GPS on to the top of the Moscone Center in downtown San Francisco. The jumpers then handed a pair of Google Glasses to a group of bicycle riders who biked across the rooftop and handed off the glasses to rappellers, who went down the side of the center. They were joined by bikers, and rode up to the stage to give the glasses to Google’s co-founder Sergey Brin. I would like to have a pair of Google Glasses once they’re released, but their not released yet due to many distractions in the glasses. They’re supposed to be released next year at the cost of $1500 for employees and released in 2014 for consumers.

I want the glasses so I don’t need to carry a phone to take a picture or use the GPS. I can also just wear it, instead of having to carry it in my pocket, letting me not worry about losing it in my pockets. Do you want the Google Glasses when they come out next year even though they’re probably going to be expensive?

Public Speaking

Two days ago, I went to a public speaking camp at Dilworth Elementary. It started at 10:00 and ended at 1:00. The instructor's name was Carl Shan. During one of his lessons, he made us say funny things to improve our self-control. Not only did we have to say the sentence, but we also couldn’t laugh and smile. We had to wear an expression we were assigned. One boy had to say romantically, “ Will you marry me?” After we had a break, he told us about two different kinds of mindsets, the growth mindset and the fixed mindset. The fixed mindset does not improve as quickly as the growth mindset. After that, we listened about a guy who has a growth mindset that made a steel company really big. Then, we listened to a story about a researcher who tested children’s impulses with marshmallows. Lastly, we listened to a tennis prodigy who stopped playing because he lost a game in the world tournament. In the end, we went home. I also learned a couple of people’s names. If I had to rate the camp from a scale of one to ten, it would be a nine. The missing point is because we don't have too much chances to speak. This is Public Speaking camp, it's meant for people to be better speakers and practice makes perfect. What would you rate this summer camp on a scale of one to ten?

VBS

Today I went to VBS or Vacation Bible School at the West Presbyterian Church on Bollinger Road. It will last from today to Friday. It starts at 9:00 and ends at 12:00. The theme of our VBS this year was Jump! It tells us about the life of Saul/Paul. The question for the week is ‘Who is God?’ Today, on Day One the verse we had was Matthew 16:15-16. It says ‘Jesus asked, “Who do you say I am?” Simon Peter answered, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.’ In recreation, we played Capture the Flag. Our team won against the other team, though it took around 10 minutes of just standing there until we captured it. We had lemonade and trail mix for snack. In Crafts, we had to make a traveling pouch to store things we got everyday inside. We got clip-on crosses, but mine was purple. After that, we went home. Did you go to any summer camps yet?

Summer Solstice

Do you know what is special today? Today is the Summer Solstice. It is the longest day of summer and the year. It is also the first day of summer. After the Summer Solstice, the days will keep on getting shorter until the Winter Solstice. Many people are going to beaches and boardwalks because it is hot. My family is going to stay in our swimming pool. What are you going to do during the summer? This morning, the sun will rose at 5:47 a.m. and will set at approximately 8:31 p.m. The sun will be up today for about 14 hours, 44 minutes and 15 seconds. I think that the reason why it will be the longest day is that the Earth is pointing more to the Sun than before, so today will have more sunlight. I like the summer solstice because it means I get to stay up longer and play more. Do you like the Summer Solstice?

LittleBigPlanet

Today, I played LittleBigPlanet on the PS3. The levels I played were Sensei’s Lost Castle, When the Cows Come Home, Beavercows Insomnia, Cereal Island and Tie Skipping.  Sensei’s Lost Castle is a main level in LittleBigPlanet. The rest of them I listed are challenges and extras. My favorite extra is Cereal Isle because it combines real life and toys into one level. It is about an evil emperor named Emperor Milk kidnaps all the cereal children and holds them captive in The Breakfast Palace of Doom. Emperor Milk is really strong. He has plasma shooting machines and a milk which will make you die instantly if you touch it. I also like the Sensei’s Castle level. It is about a sensei who wants you to find her fire-breathing cat. You have to break into her castle and defeat the ninjas. The boss is an evil Sumo Master who has 5 brains. When you beat him, you get the fire-breathing cat. When I played today, I had lots of fun and got to play a lot. I hope that the next time I play, I get to play even longer. Did you play any games during the break?

Father's Day

Yesterday was Father’s Day. It is a holiday when we honor our fathers for things like being good role models and taking care of us. We show that our dads are special, and we let them know we are grateful for having them as our dads. Lots of people bought flowers and bought gift cards for their dads. It is one of the holidays that every religion celebrates. We celebrated in two ways for our dad. First we took our dad to Dance Academy USA’s Sunday recital at the Santa Clara Convention Center near Great America. It was our sister’s recital for her ballet dance ‘Aria from the Goldberg Variation’. He really liked watching the teacher dances as well as my sister’s dance. Next, we went to Darda Seafood in Milpitas. We ordered Beef with Peking Sauce, Pickled Vegetables with Lamb Chops Soup, Spicy Fish with Bamboo Shoots, Thin Green Onion Pancakes, rice and Spicy Lamb Chops. This year’s Father’s Day was really amazing. I really hope that next year’s will be just as fun. What did you do to celebrate Father's Day?
