Do you know what is special today? Today is the Summer Solstice. It is the longest day of summer and the year. It is also the first day of summer. After the Summer Solstice, the days will keep on getting shorter until the Winter Solstice. Many people are going to beaches and boardwalks because it is hot. My family is going to stay in our swimming pool. What are you going to do during the summer? This morning, the sun will rose at 5:47 a.m. and will set at approximately 8:31 p.m. The sun will be up today for about 14 hours, 44 minutes and 15 seconds. I think that the reason why it will be the longest day is that the Earth is pointing more to the Sun than before, so today will have more sunlight.
